This 1,400-foot path will extend the Schuylkill trail from the Schuylkill Banks boardwalk to Christian Street. Expect more shrubbery and meadows than the Center City stretch, and a bridge built by CHOP that will connect the trail to the new tower's public plaza. The state awarded this project $911,637 in the fall of 2016, and paving is expected to take place this month. It is expected to open in October 2017 once installation of the irrigation system and fall plantings are complete.

This will connect the Grays Ferry Crescent Trail to the new Bartram's Mile via a new bridge constructed with portions of an old abandoned swing bridge. Currently, there is no pedestrian-friendly, off-road trail route connecting the west and east banks. This project has been in the works for years, but has hit some snags and red tape. It finally received Federal approval on June 30, so bids will be out by early August. Following that, construction of the actual bridge should take place by the end of 2017.

Connecting Bartram's Garden to Passyunk Avenue Bridge will be a 6,200-foot stretch along the river, linking west and Southwest Philly. It will also include a riverfront park near Passyunk Avenue. The $13 million project was just awarded a $3 million state grant and is expected to be built in two phases.

Construction for this 2,700-foot stretch is scheduled to begin in 2019. When it's built, pedestrians and cyclists will have off-route access connecting Center City to the Grays Ferry Crescent, and thereby Bartram's Mile. After completing a feasibility study, it's now currently in the preliminary engineering phase, and if all goes to plan should open in 2020.

Once a 300-acre property of William Hamilton, this cemetery sits along the Schuylkill and has proposed building a trail that would connect University City residents and commuters directly to the Schuylkill Banks. Although the estimated date was 2017, it's still in the proposal stage.

There is currently no safe way for pedestrians to cross University Avenue and continue along the banks. The plan would be for the bridge to be retrofitted with bike and pedestrian paths.

Just under 3 miles, this trail would provide direct pedesterian access to the historic Fort Mifflin site. A study is planned to determine the best route.

They've been studying this since 2012, but the trail would ultimately run all the way from the Philadelphia Zoo to Bartram's Mile—which would be sweet.

The SRDC is proposing to study a plan to connect the burgeoning Navy Yard and FDR Park to the main Schuylkill Banks trail. It could potentially serve as another commuting option for Navy Yard employees.

There's a lot in the works for this master plan: A capped railyard that would house a mixed-use development and pedestrian-only bridges across the Schuylkill just to name a couple of ideas. The final plan was released in June 2016 and is expected to cost a jaw-dropping $6.5 billion.
