    Magnolia Bakery Opens at 401 Bleecker Street
    Partners and friends Allysa Torey and Jennifer Appel open Magnolia Bakery on the corner of West 11th and Bleecker Street. While baking a cake, the partners decided to pour extra batter into a muffin tin, thus baking Magnolia's first cupcakes. Cupcakes were sold for $1.25.

    Lazy Sunday
    Saturday Night Live's second ever Digital Short Lazy Sunday aires on December 17, 2015. In it, cast members Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell visit Magnolia Bakery to pick up cupcakes. About Magnolia Parnell raps "no doubt that bakery has all the bomb frosting." Samberg rhymes with "I love those cupcakes like McAdams loves Gosling." The video becomes a cultural phenomenon.     Magnolia Celebrates 20 Years
    To celebrate its 20th birthday, the global bakery is selling cupcakes at its original Bleecker Street location for $1.25. The team is also partnering with viral milkshake makers Black Tap to debut a Magnolia shake. The vanilla milkshake has a vanilla-frosted rim, confetti sprinkles, mini versions of the bakery's famous cupcakes, a birthday whoopie pie, whipped cream, and (naturally) a cherry on top.
