Nicola: This reminds me of when she was doing the trouser suiting when that first came out — that was during Kim and Kourtney Take New York. I remember that because as my favorite Kardashian, I was like, 'Oh, this is the stylish one.' Then Kris started copying her.

Cameron: She always wears gowns! I was noticing that. She's the one Kardashian who's always in these long flowing gowns.

Nicola: She's always been the polished one. Even if this isn't in style right now, she's always the most polished and put-together.

Cameron: She's the mom.

Nicola: Maybe her thing is that she always appeared to be more prim and now she's dressing more street. But this isn't Kanye-approved.

Cameron: It's almost like she's just two or three years behind Kim.

Nicola: Yeah. Kim would have worn this in Paris right before she and Kanye got married.

Cameron: That's such a good call. She did wear something so similar to that, but in white.

Nicola: This is very whatever. What are these jeans?
Cameron: She’s just so basic. That’s part of her brand. It's like you’re eating at Urth Café, which is delicious, but it’s just so trendy. There are salads and organic foods and whenever you go there’s always some mom talking about doing yoga or some celebrity.

Nicola: She’s getting more rocker.

Cameron: I didn’t notice until now, but as we’re going through these pictures, it seems like she’s taking things she used to do and making them slightly trendier. She’s just on the punk rock trend here.

Cameron: She just keeps wearing the same stuff.

Nicola: Super boring. She still looked really boring all summer, but like, a different kind. Not old Kardashian–boring, but jeans-and-T-shirt–boring.

Nicola: I feel like she’s almost going the Rachel Zoe school of mom-agement. I would more expect to see this on Rachel Zoe, the Mom, than Kim, the Mom.

Cameron: I feel like she was just running out the door and grabbed Kylie’s jacket.

Nicola: Here we’re getting into Kylie territory. I think with the Kardashians, there’s always a moving target for who’s the coolest one. Kylie’s been that one for a while. Do you remember that episode when Kim was obsessed with Kylie’s Tumblr when Kylie was still in middle school? Kim behaves to Kylie the way Kris used to behave to Kim, and now Kourtney is self-assured or stubborn enough to never fully want to be one of her little sisters, but this looks very Kylie.

Nicola: Red?! Kim would never wear red these days.

Cameron: Kim would never wear color at all.

Cameron: She’s wavering! She’s nervous!

Nicola: We all have images of ourselves that we feel our best in.

Cameron: I feel like it's different when she’s going to an event with Kim. She’s dressed very much like Kim.

Nicola: But on the red carpet, it's back to her old style.

Cameron: Once again, she’s going for the wide flare-leg trousers, which is just weird in the Kardashian sphere.

Cameron: That is so Yeezy. I don’t know if it actually is, but that’s such a coat that Kanye would wear.

Nicola: And she’s with Kim!

Nicola: The thing is the only time she looks Yeezy-fied is if she’s explicitly wearing Yeezy Season. This isn’t naturally her.

Nicola: She’s with Kanye again.

Cameron: I think the difference between current Kardashian style and old Kardashian style is that some of them are hoping to define the times, whereas before they were playing catch-up. So now it looks more insane because it just looks like she’s copying her sisters instead of just going along with trends.

Nicola: It’s weird because if Kylie was wearing that, it’d be much shorter, long-sleeved, and a little tighter.

Cameron: And a longer slit.

Nicola: And there’d be an accessory of some kind that would offset it, but here it’s just, "I’m wearing a nice dress that fits me well."

Cameron: That’s such a Kim look. It's "Sexy Kourtney!" I love how they haven’t shot down any rumors of her dating Justin Bieber because they need someone in the news as Kim is hibernating post-pregnancy. There’s an internet conspiracy that I love that says the Kardashians will always do something once a day for one of them to be in the news. You’re always hearing about one of them. And who doesn’t want to hear about these delicious rumors that Kourtney is having sex with Justin Bieber? That is the most insane thing!

Cameron: Oh my God, she captioned this Instagram, "Vibes."

Nicola: I have come to hate that word.

Cameron: But you can tell she’s not hanging out with Scott anymore. She’s hanging out with Kanye.

Nicola: This seems more about the sisterly influence on Kourtney. She’s obviously been hanging out with them more because she’s dressing this way. But I don’t think she’s turning a corner and sticking to it the way that Kylie turned that corner. It just hasn’t been the same.

Cameron: You don’t think she’s going to stick with this look. I think it’ll last until she gets into another relationship.

Nicola: I think she’ll just dress like this when Kanye’s dressing her. She’ll just allow herself to be dressed like this. But I think her natural set point will always be a minidress of some kind, pretty conservative, straight center-part hair.

Cameron: This is a Kendall-esque look. The draping coat, the crop top. She doesn’t look bad there! If we saw any other person or any other Kardashian in this, we wouldn’t question it. I think she just played the mom role for too long. She was the first one to eat her placenta, but then Scott left and here she is.
